Environmental Research and Consulting started as a division of Engineering Research and Consulting before being established as a separate company. They two companies continue to operate as one unit under the ERCC name.

Engineering Research and Consulting Co. was founded by members of the faculty from Cairo University to provide engineering services to the process industries. Environmental Research and Consulting was formerly the division of Engineering Research and Consulting focused on helping clients better utilize their energy and resources, make use of renewable energy and resources available to them, and minimize their impact on the climate.
